Wearable Arts | 28-8-19

Our school has something every 2 years. Its called 'Wearable Arts'. In this event we are given a theme for our costume and what we have to make. Past years the theme was 'Countries' and the part we had to make was a hat. This year the theme is 'Future with a West Coast flavour'. We also get to pick an aspect of the West Coast of New Zealand. Our theme is the rainforest. We’re going to make a ghillie suit sort of body with vines, flax, weaved flax, ferns, koru’s and other greenery. We’ll also be adding things in such as a waterfall coming off the shoulder and bouncing off rocks as well as the occasional flower and silver fern. For the back we will add a Māori chief cloak made from ferns that’s so long that it drapes along the catwalk. Here is a photo of our prototype.

I really hope that we could get at least in the top three on the day. Hope you do too!

  1. Hi Will,
I'm Mika, a year 8 from Yaldhurst Model School.

I'm fond of the amount of information you added into the top paragraph. Just by the way you described your costume, I already know that it will look amazing. Also, the photo looks great too.

Every tuesday, while the year 7 and 8 head to manual at Lincoln School, the year 5 and 6 do a lot of activities, including wearable arts. I don't know how it went but I hope that it went well.

The whole things good but using websites to make your blog would be a big improvement because it does look a little bland. Adding more photoes would be good too. Do you think your project will be a success?

  2. Hey Will it's Kaleb here from your class.

I think that this is a great post. Adding more photos would be good too. Do you think your project will be a success? I don't think my group will be we are so far behind. We need to catch up on reflections. I think when we begin making we will be alright though.

    Kia Pai From Kaleb.
